FAQ
Q-How did you come up with the name “PATDO”?
A- This is the question most frequently asked of us. Well, Patdo is the combination of a first and last name. Some folks think it’s awful, others kind of like it. We have been called, “Potato”, “Patio” and “Pat-doo”. However you pronounce it, we think you will agree that we’re the “worst” name in great lighting!
Q-When should I use the showroom for design services and when should I use the Design Department?
A- The showroom’s expertise lies in the selection and application of decorative lighting solutions. They can also provide you with specifications and approximate locations for recessed lighting, however, they do not produce formal architectural lighting plans. For more “architectural or complex lighting designs and full AutoCad, Photoshop or Illustrator architectural lighting plans, you should contact our design department.
Q- Do you charge for design services?
A- Yes and no. Our showroom happily offers every client some complimentary design assistance. However, additional design time, site visits or special services may incur design fees. Our Design department always charges fees. Please contact us to learn more about our hourly rates and additional services.
Q- Is my project too large or small?
A- Patdo has worked on projects as small as one room and as large as a thirty story luxury apartment complex.
Q- Why use a lighting designer?
A- When lighting is ignored or simply not given enough importance, expensive and rich materials such as stone, fabric and wood loose their beauty. Tasks are difficult to perform due to improper light levels or shadows, switching and dimming is frustratingly illogical and inconvenient, spaces are too dark, too bright or have the wrong feel and colors pale in artwork, paint and fabric. Proper lighting addresses and corrects all of the above inadequacies, transforming good spaces into excellent ones. The lighting can be decorative, adding beautiful and distinctive elements or, minimally visual recessed lighting to reinforce architectural statements.
